The OZ Film Festival is proud to present our closing night gala’s directorial debut film, the London Premiere of The Butterfly Tree + Q&A after the feature with director Priscilla Cameron.
The Butterfly Tree is a delightful coming-of-age story starring one of our favourite rising stars, Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, Puberty Blues TV series), who falls in love with the luminescent Melissa George when she moves into his town. But little does he know, his father, Ewan Leslie, is also rather taken with the newcomer.
This closing gala is held in honour of Cris Jones, who sadly passed away a short time after presenting his feature debut The Death and Life of Otto Bloom at our 2017 festival at the age of 37.
In tribute to Cris, we screen a feature debut at every festival, and fund the director to fly over to participate in a Q&A. For this screening, director Priscilla Cameron will joined on stage by former director of Edinburgh International Film Festival & Adelaide born, James Mullighan.
The festival will then close with a drinks reception, generously funded by the Australian High Commission.
The feature will be preceded by the short film Sorry I’m Late (01:55), directed by Australian film student Amy de Lisle (Swinburne University).
Each ticket holder will receive a goodie bag with a new release novel by Australian author, Joy Rhodes, who will be attending and signing copies, and there will be lots of door prizes to win.
