Noel Coward Film Festival – Special Introductions

The Noel Coward Film Festival celebrates this British icon through the films he inspired, wrote and starred in.

For this unique occasion very special guests have come forward to introduce the different films:

Introducing In Which We Serve
Barry Day is one of the leading Coward scholars in the world, a Trustee of the Coward Foundation and editor of The Letters of Noel Coward, the Noel Coward Theatrical Compendium, Coward on Film, My Life with Noel Coward by Graham Payn amongst other books as well as devising the entertainment Love, Noel based on Coward’s letters.

Introducing Brief Encounter
Julian Clary, the comedian and novelist, lives in Coward’s old house (called Goldenhurst) in Kent and is, not co-incidentally a big fan of Coward.

Introducing The Italian Job
Dr. Margherita Sprio is Senior Lecturer Film History and Theory at the Uinversity of Westminster.

Introducing Cavalcade
The actor and theatre director Simon Callow is another fan who has written many articles on Coward’s work over the years.

Introducing Our Man in Havana
Alistair McGowan, the impressionist, comic, actor and singer is a great fan and devised a show called Sincerely Noel based on Coward’s songs and poems which he performed with his wife, actor Charlotte Page. He also directed a student production of SEMI-MONDE at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, his old drama school.
