Speak (1962) and The Committee (1968) + Introduction
Two early Pink Floyd film scores. The first, for conceptual artist John Latham’s stop-Motion animation Speak (1962), would go unrealised. Though Latham commissioned the band to make music for Speak, which the band performed several times, he ended up going with his own proto-industrial noise track - the version screened here. Pink Floyd also created an original score for Peter Sykes’s existential noir The Committee, a surreal tale about a murderous hitchhiker, played by Manfred Mann’s lead singer, Paul Jones. Besides Pink Floyd’s improvised instrumental score, keep an ear (and eye) out for The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.
The screening and film series will be introduced by series curator Sophia Satchell-Baeza.DramaPT1H55M122026-05-23
