Made in Prague Film Festival: Jan Nemec Retrospective

The 21st edition of the Made in Prague Festival showcases the first UK retrospective of the leading Czech filmmaker and enfant terrible of the Czechoslovak New Wave Jan Nemec (1936 -2016).

Renowned for his award winning films Diamonds of the Night and The Party and the Guests, Jan Nemec, has constantly challenged himself reinventing his style and moving from literary adaptations to more personal topics and auteur cinema. Never sentimental or nostalgic, endlessly ironic and self-mocking, Nemec’s films radiate his endless energy and fascination with life and film as seen in his swansong, The Wolf of Royal Vineyard Street, premiered at the 2017 Rotterdam International Film Festival.

An accompanying exhibition of digital black & white photographs from his unfinished film essay What is behind that Wall? will introduce Jan Nemec as a keen and captivating photographer while providing a wider context to his work.
