A World to Win: A Century of Revolution on Screen

Marx proclaimed that throwing off its chains, the proleteriat had a world to win. Kino Klassika will host a season of screenings, talks and events with Regent Street Cinema to mark the centenary of the October Revolution. The season opens with Sergei Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin, the iconic film the revolution inspired, and goes on to examine a century of revolution on film.

Bringing together provocative films by directors such as Eisenstein, Kalatozov, Shepitko and Smirnov,  Godard, Rocha, Wajda, Bertolucci and Loach, the season offers a touring programme to reach audiences across the UK and includes the once-banned Soviet film commissioned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of 1917.

Join the Kino Klassika Foundation for A World to Win at Regent Street Cinema and other venues across the UK from Friday 17 February 2017 culminating in a landmark screening of Eisenstein’s October with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre on the 26th October 2017.
