Community & Education
The Regent Street Cinema, based within the University of Westminster, is an inspiring historical space that opened its doors to our local communities in May 2015. We want you to play a part in bringing the cinema to life by creating a dynamic centre where you can learn, share and experience stories on the big screen.
“The Into Film Festival provided opportunity for the students to visit the birthplace of cinema in the UK at the Regent Street Cinema in London. It is a great feeling to know that the oldest cinema in the UK is still open but also supporting students to progress and develop their passion and enthusiasm for cinema. The staff were all really friendly and hopefully Regent Street Cinema will continue to be a space for innovation, education, and research for many years to come. Thank you to the University of Westminster for restoring such a wonderful venue to its former glory.” – Club Leader

Since its reopening, the cinema has done a great deal of engagement work with schools in the local community and across London. In partnership with the University of Westminster, the community outreach team are committed to providing enriching opportunities for young people that promote both the heritage of the cinema and discussion related to the curriculum. Topics include themes such as identity, diversity and aspiration showcased through the medium of film. We welcome students from all Key Stages and schools.More about Schools
